God beams

These beams of light that split and seems to add an ethereal aspect to a scene are often referred to as “God beams”, but are more properly referred to as Crepuscular rays.  NAPP has an excellent session on creating God beams in Photoshop where they didn’t originally exist (these in my photo were real, so I didn’t have to create them).  NAPP also has a tutorial on adding God beams that is very nice (though that also isn’t what I did on this one).  The photo was taken from the rose garden at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library looking toward Moorpark (where I live) in between heavy showers that made for a glorious sky.

This one made the round-trip Lightroom -> Topaz Adjust -> Photoshop.
